Jessica Weissman, MS, RD, LDN, earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2008 and a Master’s of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University (FIU) in 2010. She is currently a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Student at FIU in the department of Health Promotion Disease Prevention. Since February 2015, Jessica has been working as a graduate research fellow for the NIMHD P20 Center for Substance Use and HIV/AIDS Research on Latinos in the United States (C-SALUD), which is housed within FIU's Center for Research on U.S. Latino HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse (CRUSADA) at FIU. Thus far in her academic career, Jessica has published two manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, submitted four additional manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals, and given seven professional presentations. Her main research interests include health disparities regarding infectious (e.g., HIV/AIDS) and non-infectious conditions (e.g., obesity). She is also interested in physical activity and nutrition for the prevention of chronic diseases. Jessica also serves as the American Public Health Association-Student Assembly (APHA-SA) Campus Liaison for FIU, and she is the Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Florida Public Health Association (FPHA)..
